Religion and ethics

NSW schools offer classes in Special Religious Education (SRE/Religion) (sometimes known as Scripture) and Special Education in Ethics (SEE/Ethics). Approved providers deliver these classes, where available.

At Vardys Road Public School, SRE/SEE is delivered on Thursdays and is held at different times for different years:

·         9:15am - 9:45am for Years 3-6 students

·         10:00am - 10:30am for K-2 students

On enrolment, parents/carers will be given the SRE/SEE participation letter to complete and return. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE/SEE should be given to the school office, in writing.

The following SRE/SEE classes are offered at Vardys Road Public School:

Catholic SRE is provided by the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta. For more information about Catholic SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit  https://parracatholic.org/ccd-home/

Combined Christian SRE is provided by the Anglican Diocese of Sydney. For more information about Combined Christian SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit https://whysre.com.au/sre-curriculum/cep-curriculum-overview/

Hindu SRE is provided by Jet Australia Foundation. For more information about Hindu SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit www.jaf.org.au

SEE is provided by Primary Ethics, an independent not-for-profit organisation. For more information about SEE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit https://primaryethics.com.au

During the time that SRE/SEE classes are being held, students not attending SRE or SEE will attend Non-SRE. This group will be located in a separate space and will participate in meaningful, non-curriculum-based activities such as reading, private study or completing homework.
